Can you paint a clear coat over wallpaper to prevent tears?

I recently wallpapered my 4 year old daughter's bedroom. It looks great!!! The problem is: even the slightest bump tears the paper. I am sick! How can I prevent this? Can I paint it with a clear coat ? I am open to any and all suggestions!!! Help me!Can you paint a clear coat over wallpaper to prevent tears?
i wouldn't do that...what a nightmare to remove and i believe in removing before redoing....by bumps do you mean bubbles in the paper? if so, poke the bubbles with a straight pin and smooth with a damp clothCan you paint a clear coat over wallpaper to prevent tears?
no, the moisture from the sealant( while it is still wet) may cause the paper to buckle.

the truth is, kids rooms should be painted for durability reasons.paper is paper, unless it is commercial grade or vinyl, it is pretty fragile.
