What does a car look without a clear coat?

What are the advantages/disadvantages of having a clear coat mixed in with the base coat? Is it really necessary to have a clear coat at all? Thank you! What does a car look without a clear coat?
Clear coat is not ';mixed in';, it is applied over the final color coat. It is only my opinion, but clear coat only gives you that wet look to a paint job. In some cases, like in areas where there are alot of tree ';droppings'; (branches and other nasty things) it could be more of a pain than it's worth. Contrary to popular belief, clear coat is not an added protective finish...What does a car look without a clear coat?
the main purpose really, is to add some gloss to the car

some cars dont have clear coats today even, mostly whites, cause they dont have much gloss to them. or any flat color

i personally like them

and for the person who says they flake, etc

it takes yeeeears for them to flake/peel

it takes longer than 2 years

and if you wax your car, and actually take care of it, it wont flake/peel/ or oxidize, so theres a solution

and for rubbing compounds/polishes

we also make clear coat safe products for those..

and like others said, you dont mix it in,

you put it on top..
I hate clear coat.

It flakes, fades, peels, and generally sux.

They use it on ';today's'; cars because it makes the paint look nice in the showroom of car dealers.

Two to tree years after you buy it, it starts tuning to crap.

You cant pint over without completely striping it from the paint.

You can't polish it like the old days with rubbing compound or any other polish.

My opinion.......

ADDED:

Clear coat is for lazy people.
you don't mix clear with base in a two stage system without the clear the weather would wash away the paint over a short time. the clear protects the paint
