Is it safe to use sandpaper on clear-coat (car) paint?

I've read that if you use rubbing compound and wax after, there will be no damage to the paint job.Is it safe to use sandpaper on clear-coat (car) paint?
Yes it is...only if you don't go any rougher than 1,000 grit wet-dry paper, and plan on doing some buffing. If your damage is bad you can go down to 600 grit wet-dry paper but be very gentle and pay attention to any color change. Don't be afraid to use plenty of water and always soak your paper. Is it safe to use sandpaper on clear-coat (car) paint?
You would have to use a wet 400-600 grit paper and not go so far as to remove the clear coat. What is the reason you need to do this?
you can use sandpaper but you MUST use like 1000 grit and plenty plenty of water.
depends on what kind of sand paper. you have to wet sand it
