i have a snare drum (an older Ludwig model) that i took apart and painted because i didnt like the colors that it had. I've noticed that if i do a rim shot or play something on the rim it will often chip the paint. Will clearcoat spray paint protect from this? if not what will?Will clear coat protect drum rim form rim shots?
Your rims are painted instead of chrome plated? Don't know if that would help but it could affect the sound which is not good.
