I may have sanded through clear coat in some areas as it won't shine no matter how much rubbing compound I use (plus subtle whitish scratches are visible). I used Deltron 2000 DBC and Duracryl lacquer for base and clear coating, respectively. For thinning the paint, I used Klean Strip automotive lacquer thinner using 1: 1 ratio, instead of the ones recommended by the paint manufacturer. Can I apply clear coat again after wet sanding with 2000 grit or do I have to start from scratch?
As long as the paint is 101% smooth, and you have really, really used wax remover as per instructions on container, you should get away with it. Next time follow the paint manufacturers instructions. Use a retarder in the thinners, again at manufacturers ratios to stop the clear drying before the next pass of the spray-gun and this will help stop the ';white'; streaking.
